Spring has sprung. The sun’s out … well some days. The lip trends point to bright mattes and glamourous glitter. In order to rock those looks, lips must to be hydrated and moisturized. So grab yourself a glass of water, and I’ll tell you about the fun new lip balms on the Great British Highstreet. You can have all the sweets and chocolates without the calories or sugar intake. At The Tiger Tales HQ we’ve been putting these balms to the test. Naturally, the photo takes were a challenge but we did manage to save a few Jelly Belly’s for the snaps. The fun Spring/Summer lip balms are: Hershey’s, Reese’s, Jelly Belly and Candy Crush.
Just in time for the chocolaty fiestas of Easter there are new chocolate flavoured lip balms. The balms are available in Hershey’s Kisses; Hershey’s Original and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. ‘Each balm comes in fun, kitsch packaging to reflect each candy brands’ personality’ I tried the Reese’s. It’s bright orange in colour and gave me a mild orange tint to my lips. I really like the yummy chocolaty-peanut butter smell and flavour, just like the actual chocolate bar! If you luv peanut butter this is the one for you. The formula is long lasting and made my lips feel moisturized. I keep in my’ out and about’ handbag. They will be available at Claire’s and RRP: £3.50.
Ideal for summer fun there’s Jelly Belly lip balms. Jelly Belly brings the fun factor in: Very Cherry, Tutti – Fruitti, Coconut and Berry Blue. ‘Each balm has a creamy formula, which glides across your lips glazing them with a sweet and glossy finish.’ We received the Tutti – Fruitti which is a cute pale pink colour and smells amazing. It glided on easily and while it doesn’t colour the lip there is a mild gloss. My son Angelo has that one. Jelly Belly jellybeans is one of his special candy treats. If you that’s not your fruity flavour, don’t worry more exciting flavours are yet to come. Also available from Claire’s. RRP £3.50.
Then there’s the Candy Crush collection of lip balms, inspired by popular fruity game. I confess I’ve never played it, despite NUMBEROUS invites the social networking site. I’m just not into games like hubby and the kids, BUT I am a gloss girl. I’m never without lip balm, even on the 10 minutes school run. Candy Crush lip balms are available in: Bubblegum Bridge, Chocolate Mountains, Peppermint Palace and Lemonade Lake. We trialled the Bubblegum Bridge and Lemonade Lake. My darling Valentina has Bubblegum Bridge. She refuses to put down. Like mother like daughter eh. It’s clear in colour and smells like bubblegum. I went for Lemonade Cake. I keep it in my makeup bag. Candy Crush balms have a rich creamy consistency. I use it as a lip pre before applying my favourite matte lip gloss. These balms will be great for on the go moisture too.
